"In 2008, we traded the Bay Area’s hustle for the serene beauty of Park City, eager to expose our young family to the area’s incredible outdoor activities—skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and more. As we transitioned from corporate careers to running our own small business, we quickly realized the cost of keeping up with our kids’ growing gear needs. Recognizing the gap for a more affordable and locally-focused solution, we launched Switchback Sports in 2011. Located initially in a modest cinder block warehouse, our idea to offer gently used and new gear on consignment quickly gained traction. Park City embraced our vision of providing great gear at better prices, and by 2014, we had outgrown our first location and expanded to a new retail space on Bonanza Drive.

Our journey continued with a move in 2017 to a larger, redesigned store on Deer Valley Drive, solidifying our position as the only locally owned shop offering a comprehensive range of retail, rental, and service options for both summer and winter. In 2020, we extended our reach with an e-commerce platform, allowing us to serve customers globally. Our growth didn’t stop there; we opened additional locations at Canyons Village and Black Rock Resort, with plans for further expansion on the horizon. Through it all, our mission has remained the same: to make outdoor adventures accessible to everyone while sharing our passion for Park City.
