The Ultimate Guide to Skiing in Park City: Top Ski Rentals, Best Resorts, and Must-Do Runs

Perfect all-arounder

As an advanced skier trying these out on a demo (and now purchasing), these skis are sick. While I mostly stick to groomers, I took the Maven off-piste a few times on days when we had fresh snow, and I was impressed with how it handled. The tip rocker gives the ski some nice float in light powder, and I didn’t have any issues navigating through softer snow and light chop. It’s not as floaty as a wider ski (obviously), but it’s surprisingly capable for its 86mm waist when conditions aren’t too deep. I had a blast skiing through some tree lines and variable conditions, and it felt stable enough in bumps and cut-up snow.

Best touring set up

I’ve been using the Atomic Backland 107 for a few weeks now, and I’m seriously loving its performance in backcountry conditions. I’m an advanced skier who prefers off-piste and backcountry skiing, so I wanted a ski that could handle powder, variable snow, and technical terrain without feeling too heavy. The Backland 107 definitely checks all the boxes for me

Great addition to the quiver

I recently picked up the Volkl Blaze 86 after demoing a few skis and I am absolutely in love! I’ve been skiing for about 7 years now, and I needed some new all-mountain skis that can handle all conditions. I live out west, so I’m on everything from groomers to light powder or snow cookies, and these skis hold up super well.

Head Kore X80 23/24

I recently purchased the Head Kore X 80 skis for this season, and after several runs, I’m really impressed with their performance. The lightweight construction makes them super easy to maneuver, and they feel stable even at higher speeds, which is perfect for carving on groomers. The edge grip is excellent on hardpack, and while they handle softer snow decently, they don’t offer the float I’d like in deep powder. If you’re looking for something for the terrain park, they’re not the most playful or forgiving, but for an all-mountain ski, they’ve been great. Overall, I’m very happy with them for on-piste and variable conditions, but I’d recommend something wider if you’re mostly skiing deep snow or looking for more freestyle flexibility.
